Before coming to office

Before coming to office, I spent the beautiful morning with my wife with a cup of tea. Then around 9am, I came to my office. As today, I had a little work at office, I spent my office time with relax.  I have just sent the previous work done by me to my manager. I have paid my monthly telephone bill to the service provider today. After that I have participated in different online blogs.  Then after a small official meeting I returned to home. I have planned to have a visit to the nearest Mall this evening and to enjoy the music there. At night, I will enjoy the TV and lastly will have a nice sleep after a light dinner.

Destressing holiday gift giving

Many people stress as the holidays approach, wondering how they are going to afford all the gifts they feel they have to give. I decided a few years ago that I am not going to let that get me worked up any more. Each year just one or two people get a larger gift while everyone else gets a home made gift. For example, this year all the women are getting home made  bath fizzies, a washcloth and candle. These are practical but luxurious items that everyone will enjoy. The men are getting instant hot chocolate mix and a batch of homemade marshmallows to drink them with.   This is my fourth year of doing this and so far everyone has loved the gifts I have given them.

Living in the East Bay

The East Bay area of California, just outside of San Francisco is a wonderful area to live in. While the summers days are hot, night time temperatures drop to a very comfortable range. Much of the East Bay area is made up of smaller towns, but being close to such a large city, they have all the trappings of the city without the crowds. The schools in the area are excellent as is the selection of after school activities for kids (and adults) to get involved in. The are hundreds of restaurants covering almost any cuisine imaginable. And with the excellent public transportation available getting into San Francisco for a day is a breeze.

A knitter’s wardrobe

One of the perks of being a knitter is that I am able to custom make my own clothing for almost any occasion. For example, much of today was spent running errands, and since I don’t have a car, I was walking or taking the bus everywhere. In cooler weather such as we are currently experiencing, this can get rather uncomfortable, unless I am appropriately dressed. Today found me wearing knee high hand knit wool socks under my jeans and boots, and a woolen lace shawl wrapped around my neck over a long sleeved t-shirt. My wrists were kept warm with fingerless mittens I made. By making sure my wrists, feet and neck were warm, I was quite toasty with just a light denim jacket, while others I saw were feeling the chill in their heavier coats.
